Traditional Chinese medicine

It is a medical act based on inserting fine sterile and disposable surgical steel needles, at specific points on the body to develop biologic phenomena mainly within the nervous system. It is used to treat acute and chronic pain.

Traditional Chinese medicine offers the following pain relief therapies within acupuncture:

Clínica del dolor Huelva

Acupuncture points and/or areas are stimulated by the vacuum created on the suction cup.

Clínica Acudor dolor crónico

Heat stimulation of the acupuncture points using the powder of the Artemisia Sinensis plant through the needles.

Clínica del dolor Huelva

Needle stimulation by special electric currents.

Clínica Acudor dolor crónico

Stimulation of reflex areas within the auricle by means of electro-acupuncture needles or seed implants.

Therapy sessions will be performed according to the painful body part or entity:

  • Lying on your back or facing down on one side
  • Sitting in a chair or armchair
  • We recommended wearing comfortable and loose-fitting clothes if possible.
  • Each session could take up about 25 minutes on average.
  • Neither the needle puncture nor its stimulation or manipulation during the session is painful. Sometimes it can cause a brief electrical sensation.

  • 10 sessions (full cycle), especially for chronic pains. Normally, in this kind of patients, results cannot be noticed before session 5, although there are individual cases in which clinical improvement appears earlier. Evolution is different in each patient.
  • After session 5, the periods between each session can be extended every two weeks or more within the treatment plan.
  • After the first session, a transitory worsening (less than 24 hours) is described in few cases. This means that patient’s evolution is going to be good.
  • After the first session, a temporary sensation (minutes) of decay and dizziness may rarely occur, which can be relieved lying down and having a hot drink.
  • After a session you can feel a sense of great relaxation and a feeling of sleep, but these symptoms are not negative.

Acupuncture therapies are recommended for people diagnosed with:

  • Migraines and headaches both in crisis and to prevent them
  • Knee arthritis, as well as the tendinopathies associated to it.
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia
  • Epicondylitis: “tennis elbow” pain

  • Chronic shoulder pain
  • Facial neuralgias (trigeminal and atypical)
  • Chronic cervical pain
  • Chronic pain in the dorsal region of the back Postherpetic neuralgia (Phn)

Acupuncture can be applied together with other treatments to relieve pain, like oral medication, infiltrations …
